On October 12, Drew Gilpin Faust was installed as the 28th (and first female) President of Harvard University, at a ceremony held in historic Harvard Yard. Doug Chamberlain ’73 attended as HAA Regional Director for Northern New England. Despite a steady rainfall it was a colorful ceremony, celebrating both the ancient traditions and modern-day diversity of the University—including both African drums and the symbolic delivery of the College keys, silver and the 1650 Charter. President Faust also received greetings and good wishes from various notables in attendance, which included representatives of more than 100 colleges and universities worldwide. |

As previously reported, your Board continues to pursue the possibility of a concert in memory of Matt Reynolds ’54, featuring a Harvard musical ensemble. While the logistical challenges involved have proven more daunting than expected, we hope to schedule this event by the spring of 2009 at the latest.
